What’s New in Version 8.4? Taxonomy Support for Better Product Organization

With the release of version 8.4, Bulk Product Sync (BPS) now offers taxonomy support—one of the most requested features by our users. Now you can assign taxonomies to products easily, directly from Google Sheets. This update means you can add, update, or remove taxonomies such as brands or any other custom taxonomy in just a few clicks.

How to Add a Taxonomy in BPS

With taxonomy support, you can quickly add categories like brands, styles, or other custom fields that enhance the organization of your WooCommerce store.

Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Taxonomies:

1. Open your connected Google Sheet.
2. Navigate to Extensions > Bulk Product Sync with Google Sheets > Manage Fields.
3. Inside the product fields tab, scroll down to the Custom Taxonomy section.
4. Enter the taxonomy name you want to add (e.g., ‘brands’) and click Add.
5. Finally, click Save.

Adding Terms to Taxonomies in Google Sheets

Once you’ve added your desired taxonomy, it’s time to assign terms to it for each product. Here’s how:1. Go back to your Google Sheet and create a column with the title of the taxonomy you’ve just added (e.g., ‘brands’).
2. For each product, enter the slugs of the terms you want to assign, separated by commas. For example, if you’re adding brands, you might enter ‘samsung, apple’.

3. When you’re ready to sync, go to Sync Data Menu and start syncing.

How to Remove Terms from a Product

Need to remove a term? It’s easy:

1. Simply delete the term entries in the taxonomy column for the product.
2. When you sync, BPS will remove these terms from the product automatically, keeping your catalog up-to-date.
