Writing product descriptions is the job every store owner puts off. It's not hard — it's just endless. A catalog of 300 products means 300 blank description cells, and "I'll do a few each evening" turns into a year of thin product pages that neither customers nor Google take seriously.

BPS Cloud now closes that gap where you already work: select rows in your Google Sheet, pick "Generate Descriptions (AI)" from the menu, and drafts appear right in the cells — titles, short descriptions, and full descriptions, written from whatever product data the row already has. You review them like any other spreadsheet edit, and nothing reaches your store until you sync.

How it works

If you've used BPS Cloud before, there's nothing new to learn:

1. Select the rows you want copy for (or just place the cursor in one row to do a single product).
2. BPS Cloud → Generate Descriptions (AI). A confirmation dialog shows exactly how many rows will generate, how many will be skipped, and how much of your monthly quota it will use — before anything runs.
3. Drafts land in your sheet. The AI fills description and short_description, and puts title ideas in a separate ai_suggested_title column, placed right next to name so reviewing is a side-by-side glance.
4. Review, edit, sync. The drafts are ordinary cell values. Rewrite them, tweak a phrase, or delete the ones you don't like — then run a normal sync when you're happy.

Everything runs from the BPS Cloud menu in your sheet — Generate Descriptions (AI) sits alongside Sync and Fetch.

The part we care most about: what the AI can't do

Anyone can bolt a text generator onto a product catalog. The design work went into the guardrails:

• It never writes to your store. AI output goes into sheet cells only. The one and only path to WooCommerce is the same sync you already use and trust — with its per-row sync_status reporting.
• It never overwrites your writing. Rows that already have a description are skipped, and say so explicitly in sync_message ("skipped: has description"). Want a redo? Clear the cell and generate again — deleting is a decision only you can make.
• It never touches your product names. Title suggestions live in ai_suggested_title, a column that is excluded from sync payloads entirely. If you like a suggested title, you copy it into name yourself. An AI renaming your products (and breaking your URLs and SEO) is not a feature — so we made it impossible.

AI drafts flow through the same per-row reporting as everything else — sync_status and sync_message tell you exactly what happened, including "skipped: has description."

What the copy looks like

Generation is powered by Claude, and it works from the data already in the row — name, SKU, attributes, categories, prices. A row that says BPS-TEE1 · Kids Shirts by BOBO · variable · Size: S/M/L comes back with a proper short description for category pages and a fuller description for the product page, in a neutral e-commerce voice you can then season to taste. The point isn't prize-winning prose — it's going from 300 empty cells to 300 solid first drafts in one afternoon of reviewing instead of a year of writing.
